I dream big concept

Sushma Verma, the 15-year-old daughter of a daily wage sanitation worker, is originally from Bargawan—an area located on the outskirts of Lucknow, India. She is the youngest postgraduate in India and has recently achieved an even more impressive milestone—she is now enrolled in the PhD course at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) in the city of Lucknow.

At the young age of 7 years, most children are more concerned with playing videogames with their friends or partaking in various sports and less concerned with completing high school. However, this is not the case where Sushma Verma is concerned. In fact, Verma had already completed the 10th grade by age 7! At age 13, Verma decided to pursue college studies and attended Lucknow University, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Microbiology.

Verma aspires to become a doctor; however, due to her young age she will have to wait a few more years. In an interview with the Times of India, she expressed her disappointment: “A person should always be judged by his or her talent and potential, not by age. I desperately wanted to become a doctor but now I have to wait till I turn 17 — it’s a huge disappointment for me.”

It’s no surprise that Verma is an inspiration to all young, ambitious students!
