Malala Opens Refugee School for Girls in Lebanon

A recently-turn 18 year old Malala Yousafzai, famous for campaigning for girls’ education, has just opened a school for Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
Her own worldwide organization, The Malala Fund, paid for the refugee school through donations from around the world. The school is located next to the Lebanon/Syria border. Due to Lebanon’s close proximity to Syria, it has become home to over 1.2 million refugees, yet because of the huge influx of refugees, thousands are turned away at the border every year.
Malala hopes that the new refugee school will help Lebanon handle the influx of refugee children, and also help children—especially underprivileged girls—maintain their education, even through war.
