The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) results were released on Thursday, and one student in particular did exceptionally well, especially where maths and sciences were concerned.
Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai received the top grade of A* in a wide range of subjects including:
- Math IGCSE
- Religious studies
Additionally, the 18-year-old picked up As in the following subjects:
- English language
- English literature
Malala currently attends Edgbaston High School for Girls in Birmingham, England. Along with her core subjects, she also opted to take maths, history, geography and religious studies. Apparently the additional workload did not hinder her ability to achieve consistent high scores in each and every subject.
Today, Malala’s father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, took to Twitter to congratulate his daughter on her GCSE results. He posted a photo of her grades with a caption that read: “My wife Toor Pekai and I are proud of Malala getting 6A*s and 4As. #education for every child.”
What does Malala intend to do with these spectacular GCSE results?
Says Malala, regarding her education: “I want to get my education – a good university education. A lot of the politicians have studied in Oxford, like Benazir. My dream is to empower myself with education, and then it is a weapon.”
