The Montreal Gazette reports that the inevitable one-day strike by the teachers’ union will take place on Thursday, October 29. Of course, this means that all schools (and daycares in the schools) in the Lester B. Pearson School Board will be closed that day.

An email was sent to parents on October 16, notifying them of the one-day strike and school closings, stating: “our school board cannot guarantee the safety of the students and that services will not be affected on that day.”

The teachers’ union is also expecting to partake in several other one-day strikes in mid-November and early December, however, no specific dates have been set yet. It’s important to note that once the dates have been decided on, the teachers’ union must provide a minimum of 7 days’ notice before a strike day.
