The Hour of Code is a week long program that is designed to introduce young students to computers and coding. The program launched in 2013 and is organized by Code.org—a non-profit organization that’s dedicated to increasing the participation of students in the computer sciences.

Computer Science Education week begins on December 7 and ends on December 13. Technology giant Apple will support Code.org by offering coding workshops and other special events to children between the ages of 6 and up at some of the company’s stores. Apple’s Hour of Code will take place on Thursday, December 10.

Apple intends to host workshops in 465 of its stores. “We’ll be hosting developers and organisations that support computer science education in cities around the world. Check your local Apple Store for more details. Selected events will also be available as podcasts on iTunes,” says Apple.
