Welcome to Schools Training Top 10, a weekly roundup of the best and most interesting stories in education. Over the next ten weeks we will be serving up some delicious details about 10 Canadian universities that are known for their stellar cafeteria food.

Let’s face it—cafeteria food has got a bad reputation. From mystery meat to vegetable “puré” (i.e. sludge) most students have strayed away from consuming their school’s food for far too long. However, as a result of recent changes in nutrition guidelines and a demand for healthier options, many schools have begun changing up their menus to offer their students food options that are both nutritious and delicious.

The Canadian university that snagged the #10 spot on our best cafeteria food list? Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario.

Carleton University is one Canadian university that focuses heavily on the nutrition of its students. In fact, recently the school has added a range of gluten free options to its cafeterias and it will soon be integrating a general Dietary Restrictions Program—a place where those on a vegan, vegetarian, halal or gluten-free diet can easily select a meal that suits their restrictive needs. In addition, Carleton U also offers some pretty great meal plans to its students, see the complete list.

Carleton houses a wide range of eateries across its campus, some of which include Bakers, Bent Coin and of course the Food Court— which offers students a range of fast-food favourites, such as Pizza Pizza, Subway and much more.
