Auto Service Consultant

With the increasing complication of cars, trucks and other vehicles, it falls to the Automotive Service Consultant to help garage and dealership customers to best decide how they wish to repair and maintain their vehicles. This means both an understanding of the needs of the customer, but also keeping an eye on the bottom line for the dealership, which usually encourages the general sale of services to keep a vehicle in the best possible condition. An Automotive Service Consultant is also responsible for helping maintain a steady work flow, to make sure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion.

Because of the role as a liaison, an Automotive Service Consultant needs strong people skills, as well as an aptitude to working with the various departments at a dealership or garage. A good consultant is organized and good at following up with many tasks and projects at once. They are also able to present themselves as a vehicle expert and dispense trustworthy and reliable advice, at all times maintaining customer satisfaction.

With the wide variety of employers available, an auto service consultant may choose if they would be more comfortable in a big or large garage, and whether they would prefer to be part of a franchise operation or one that is privately owned or even owner operated.
