Studies have shown that pregnancy can do a number on your body, and that chiropractic is a great way to keep your body functioning as it should be. Chiropractic has been shown to help patients speed recovery time after a pregnancy.

Whether you’ve just had a baby, you’re thinking about having a baby or you’re pregnant now, you should be consider finding a good chiropractor if you are not already under care. Women go through an astounding amount of changes during pregnancy – not just hormonally, but physically as well. Posture can change, sitting positions become more painful, and your sleeping style changes – it can really place extra stress on your body. It’s very common for people to experience pain in the lower back, shoulders, neck, legs and other areas during and after pregnancy. One of the safest, most effective solutions to keep your body functioning as it should be is chiropractic care. If you’ve been in a chiropractic career long enough, chances are you’ve helped a lot of women during pregnancy.

Your center of gravity shifts forward when you’re pregnant, as the baby is growing. Your hamstrings and gluteal muscles become a bit stretched and weakened and the curves in the lumbar region is increased, meaning there’s also an increase in stress to your lower back and neck. As well, changes in hormones can loosen your ligaments and muscles, leaving your joints less stable than they should be. In chiropractic school, you’ll learn many techniques that will help adjust the spine and relax tight ligaments, allowing for better blood flow and circulation that can reduce or even eliminate discomfort caused by the changes in the body.

Using chiropractic techniques in lieu of medication is a desirable idea for many. Medication while you’re pregnant, or trying to get pregnant, is always a risk because you never know how it will affect you. Chiropractic is a very safe, non-invasive way of relieving tensions and stresses in the body, as well as promoting natural, healthy body functioning. Realignment, especially during and after an ordeal like pregnancy, is extremely important to you body’s proper functioning.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy helps in preparing your body for childbirth. Due to hormones released in the latter stages of pregnancy, ligaments and tendons can become lax, making it easier for spinal misalignments to occur. These spinal misalignments, or subluxations, may impede the nerves exiting the spine interrupting important communication pathways within the body. Chiropractic addresses those misalignments and often women who’ve been adjusted during pregnancy report much easier, faster, and safer deliveries.

Chiropractic is an extremely safe and effective way of treating the body’s posture and alignment before, during and after pregnancy, with safe practices taught at any reputable chiropractic college.
