After Graduating College
Graduating college is as stressful and tumultuous of a moment as it is a wonderful and proud one. Most students are immediately plagued by the horrifying question of, “what now?” This helpful and informative blog post from the Academy of Learning College shows that it’s not such a huge, scary world out there, and that with the right attitude and a couple of tricks and tips up your sleeve, you might find yourself better off than you think.
“When it comes down to it, the secret to landing a job straight out of college is that you aren’t limited to exactly what you studied. While it can be easy to feel like you’re boxed into shuffling papers around an office just because you’ve taken office administration courses, it’s not that cut and dry. There are an incredible amount of careers that the skills you learn can land you in, you just have to the think outside of the box! With administration skills, you could find yourself managing the day-to-day operations of a brewery, or overseeing the operations of a bakery making the sweetest, most buttery croissants.”
While it can often seem like you’re pigeon-holed, or stuck in a one-dimensional career, often if you just look around you’ll see that with the right skills, the world is your oyster. Times are changing, and instantly landing the career you stick with for life when you’re fresh out of college doesn’t have to be your fate. In fact, experimenting with different careers is not only great personal experience, but it looks great on a resume!
