GO Electric Cars

Career Path : Automotive

Electric cars have been around for quite some time now, but they still haven’t managed to get the stranglehold on the market like gas has. There are a few reasons for that, but most notably is the difficulty in finding charging stations, and the rarity of charging stations around the province. Well, GO Transit is doing something to try and change that, as this great blog post by Automotive Training Centre discusses.

“Friends of the environment, people looking for more interesting automotive careers in Toronto and people who champion the use of electric vehicles can rejoice, as there is a city plan in place that grants those who prefer electric power a little victory. GO Transit has announced they are implimenting charging stations at their train stations. The project is designed to make it easier for city commuters to do the right thing and go green. It might also pique interest in automotive careers centered around electric vehicles. People are a buzz about the project, and the general opinion is that it will make electric vehicles much more popular, as one of the biggest concerns about electric vehicles is that it’s a hassle to find a charging station.”

It’s nice to see a corporation – especially a transportation one – taking a step towards a greener future, and supporting the adoption of electric vehicles as an efficient and environmental choice. The project, which is still in its pilot stages, hopes to not only make it more accommodating for current users of electric vehilces, but also to further hit home the idea that electric cars are here to stay, hopefully inciting some people to make the switch.
