The Detroit Auto Show is roaring into town again on January 13th, and with it comes a host of stunning new technological advancements, beautiful new vehicles and boundary-pushing concept debuts. With a real focus on fuel efficiency and an increased interest in environmentally friendlier cars, 2014 is shaping up to be an excellent year for the automotive world. This blog post by Automotive Training Centre details just what you can expect from this year’s show.

“Volkswagen originally debuted a Beetle Dune concept car in Los Angeles in 2000, but says that the new 2014 Dune Concept is much more realistic and feasible. With a proposed 210-horsepower turbocharged TSI engine and six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission, this little racing buggy is sure to be a hit. Lastly, for those who want to go just a little bit greener, Ford has the answer for you with its “C Max Solar Energi” concept car. Severing that pesky cord, Ford has instead opted to use high-performance solar panels on the roof of the vehicle.”

So whether it’s the prospect of cruising around the sand in a tricked out Volkswagen dune buggy, or never having to plug your electric car in again, the surprises that the 2014 Detroit Auto Show has in store for us are pretty wild. While concept cars are usually just sketches, and these final products will change before they hit the stores, it’s enough to have us foaming at the mouth with excitement.
